One of the most common misunderstandings is about cylinder compression. A properly assembled engine using quality parts will have the most cylinder compression it will ever have mere minutes after the first engine start. Protestations about "break-in" therefore are excuses for one or the other (assembly or parts) being less than it should be. Period.
